12WBT Blogger Challenge Week One

So here it is, I’ve decided I’m going to jump right into the 12WBT Blogging community properly and join the blogger challenge being run by Whirlsie @ Nutritionally Yours. Week one’s challenge closes at midnight tonight and here I am a graceful 3.5 hours ahead of deadline – woohoo!

A little bit about me…

I’m a geek, of the professional Microsoft card-holding verity, which means I spend the majority of my day sitting around staring at screens and not engaging any of my core strength – or any muscles at all really LOL. I over work, and I compensate for my lack of energy with a lot of V, Red Bull and shitty food choices for the quick sugar rush that they can provide.

I topped out weight wise just over 108kgs in 2007 and managed to get down to 83kgs (81 naked!) on weight watchers in 2009/2010 – I’ve yo-yo’d back to 95kgs since then.

Why I decided to join the 12WBT…

One of the people I follow on Facebook was a member of Round 3 2010 and they had a lovely inspirational photo on their wall in December. I followed the 12WBT page at that point, and started to use the cruchtime cook book at that point to.

I had some good success maintaining my weight over the christmas period (not gaining was amazing) and since i started really sticking to the 1200cals food program I’ve dropped weight down from 95.5kgs to 91.5 as of today.

What I’m hoping to achieve through the program…

I’d really just like to drop 0.5kgs a week on average this time around, and make some real lifestyle changes throughout the program. I’m not interested in a massive loss as I plan to run at least two rounds of the program to get to my ultimate 65kg goal weight.

Why I’ve decided to blog about the whole thing, what will my blog focus be…

As you can see I’ve blogged on and off for years, this just seemed natural.

How I am exercising this round…

Initially I thought I’d only exercise indoors. I discovered during pre-season that this is actually an extension of my external excuses though (being afraid of being made fun of by people) so I decided as part of dealing with my issues I’m going to do the program outside as much as possible.

I use Brisbane’s CBD River Walk for my cardio, and a park in the CBD area for my strength/balance days. Oh and a yoga mat so I don’t hurt my knees.

What is my greatest strength that will help me…

Being at peace with the fact it took a long time to put on weight, and it’s going to take a long time to drop it. I feel like knowing a 0.5kg loss each week is okay is a better mental position to put myself in than some of the other people I’ve seen on the forums (who seem really upset with losses of over 0.5kg – which would make me dance with joy).

What am I afraid of…

Giving up, but that’s not going to happen 🙂

What am I looking forward to most over the next 12 weeks…

Being hydrated all the time – and getting enough sleep without feeling guilty.

What is my downfall, and how will I over come it…

Being exhausted all the time – and I’m going to have a bed time now 9.30pm latest!

The one word that will motivate me the most over the next 12 weeks is…

PERSISTANCE
